David works in Azerbaijan. He successfully completed a course of Six Month Smiles in 2011 and whilst now happy with the degree of straightness in his smile, he had always harboured a notion to brighten things up a little. This was in part due to some enamel staining and old leaking composite resin fillings.

David was due to fly back to work for several months on the Monday. He had his checkup at the start of the preceding week and was given an 8am appointment for the Friday. Our ceramist, Alex Adair of Vitality Dental Laboratory, met with Dr Murphy and David for shade selection and analysis of the patient’s requirements.

The four incisors were subjected to a minimal adjustment, as can be seen from the before picture (taken after preparation of the teeth).

The patient left whilst the technician set to work. Everyone reconvened at 4pm when the four Porcelain Veneers were cemented. The results can be seen to be natural but most importantly a huge improvement.

Patients who have had Clear Braces should note that David subsequently attended the orthodontic laboratory early on Monday morning to have a new retainer adapted to his Porcelain Veneers. This prevents slippage or relapse of crowding problems and is essential for any post orthodontic case.

David made his flight to Azerbaijan that afternoon. There is no margin for error in a case like this but we are fortunate in that we can count on highly skilled professionals and dental technicians who are comfortable operating under pressure.

Same Day Porcelain Veneers Case Study: Jade

Jade works as an actress in London and contacted the practice to arrange appointments which coincided with a weekend in her home town of Glasgow. Her return flight had been booked for the Monday.

Jade had received cosmetic dentistry in the form of a pressed porcelain bridge and tooth whitening in 2010 with Dr Murphy.

Essentially she wanted the three upper teeth on the right of her central incisor to match the bridge fitted on the left four years ago. She felt that they were naturally a bit smaller and wanted to improve both size and profile.

There was a little bleeding from gums at the checkup but otherwise Jade’s teeth were healthy and minimum adjustments were required. She was delighted that both a first time fit and her expectations were fully realised on the day.
